Love

Isn’t it amazing that even though we fall so terribly short, Jesus still chose to love us and gave his life for us!  Jesus connected with people on an individual basis.  Think of the woman at the well, Peter, Paul… Mary and Martha… Jesus met people where they were.  So what can we learn from him?

In an age of i-phones, i-pads… I-centric people we need to connect with people and love them for who they are.  When you look at another person, do you first see what’s right with that individual or what is wrong?  This is a key place to start.  If you find yourself judging others, its really hard to share the love of Jesus with them.  If you start a relationship based on what is wrong with a person, you likely won’t have much of a relationship.

We need to look through the lens that Jesus provides. What do you see that person doing that highlights a strength or positive characteristic that person has?  Find something right and compliment that person on their strength.  Whatever it is you see, a beautiful smile, a heart for others, a love of music, a gift for a video game, a great mail carrier who is faithful no matter the weather, a husband who works hard to provide for the family, a child who shows concern for a friend.   Find their positive trait and help them to see it.  The world is filled with enough critical people.  Why not let your light shine by highlighting the strengths or gifts you see in someone else.  You’ll be amazed at how much that person will appreciate you actually “seeing them!”  And then, just maybe then, they will see Jesus in you!
