There’s that age old saying, “20 % of the people are doing 80% of the work.”
“We need more people involved in serving!”
Why aren’t more people serving? It begins with relationships. First, it requires pastors and church members to invest time in personally getting to know what makes each person tick. What do they love doing? What are they really gifted at doing? Would they rather work with other people or do a task behind the scenes? So often, the reality is, we just don’t spend enough time in conversation with people. Or perhaps you do and now you’re scratching your head saying, “Who mentioned that they love to work with children?” Maybe you’ve had a time and talent survey that’s been sitting in your data base for the past 10 years for 200 people but only 40 are serving.
I know, talking to people, this sounds so simple. But if your church doesn’t have a system to intentionally have meaningful conversation, you’ll be stuck with the same old 20%. Would you like some help creating a system at your church? Let me know, I would be happy to help.
