Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
Last night I spent the evening with an older couple from our church. The husband was berating himself for not being good at evangelizing. He felt like he was less than he should be. As we talked about how God has created each of us to do different things in the body of Christ, he began to recognize that he had been a faithful servant. His wife encouraged him in this as well. “No one can do everything but everyone can do something” came to mind. This gentleman had spent the last fifty years of his life faithfully fixing things around our church. He served as a trustee for decades. He often can be found helping out in the kitchen and I do know full well he is a wonderful example of a Christian man. His actions are an evangelical testimony of Jesus. So next time you think… but I can’t do that. Think about what you can do and do it!
